Project #3 Experimental Clock / Luna

Description

I always wondered about the star system and how our earth and moon doing the cycles over the sun and how these cycles influence our time calculations and perception of life. I decided to orient on moon eclipse because something magical happening at this time and they are pretty rare. My time calculation is mostly based on my work and deadlines. I often do my projects at night and observe the clear sky with the moon, I live in a construction area right now, so there is not much city light which can be an obstacle to observe the night sky.

Design Process

I made three different sketches to calculate time. The first sketch was the brain parts, I wanted to different parts to appear in the different day-night periods. The second one was Dots sketch, I have not finished it to the end, but I wanted colorful random size dots to appear and represent minutes, seconds, and hours, so they can overlay each other and create something like a colorful canvas, almost such as a dot painting from expressionism.

The last sketch was the moon and shadows, I decided to have this one in p5 because right now I mostly work at nights and for me, the time calculations for this sketch were clearer than for others. The moon also can rotate in different positions as we can see it in the sky from different angles. The mouse changes the color of the sky.

Reflection

Time is valuable and time is passing very fast. Sometimes it is unbelievable to realize how much time we spend on every action and when we visualize time it became more tangible. I haven't think about different time calculations broadly before, so this assignment helped to see our perception of time differently. The coding process is still a little bit confusing to me, but now I understand how to link time to code and make it work.
